Fun Time Videos

Owen had an absolutely fabulous time playing with Crazy Granny (aka Grandma Kim, aka Gramsie) and dancing on the changing table. This boy can really move. :)

Stop.

Things to STOP saying...

1. He's SO big! (Owen is supposed to be getting bigger every day. He's growing. Yes, maybe he is in the 90th percentile for his weight and 75th percentile for his length and head size, but that's okay. He's still healthy and within the range of "normal." His size is just going to make marching with a tuba even easier.)

2. Do you like being a mom? (Okay, this one ticks me off. I ADORE being Owen's mom, but if I didn't, do you think I'd tell you?)

3. Is he a good baby? (Does anyone really say, "I have a 'bad' baby"? And my baby is absolutely perfect, by the way. My God doesn't make mistakes.)

4. When are you going to have another one? (Oh, you think you're funny, don't you? FYI - Babies are EXPENSIVE.)

5. Are you breastfeeding? (Is it any of your business what I do with my breasts?)

6. Does he sleep through the night? (This question doesn't bother me, but I just don't get it. Does it matter to you if he sleeps through the night? It doesn't bother me too much. I enjoy every minute I get to spend with him...even at 4am.)

7. Do you miss him when you go to work? (Duh!)

8. Who does he look like? (He looks like OWEN! C'mon, people!)

9. IE (As in...diapie, burpie, toesies, poopie)

Happy 10 Weeks

Owen is 10 weeks old today! He's such a big boy! He's getting SO much better at putting his hands together. He even gets his fists up to his mouth sometimes so he can suck on his little fingers.

Owen has taught me a few lessons in these past 10 weeks...
1. Burping a baby harder will not make him burp sooner.
2. Rocking a baby faster will not make him fall asleep sooner.
3. Singing to a baby louder will not make him stop crying sooner.
4. Feeding a baby more at one time will not make him stay fuller longer. (It will actually make him throw up.)
I've also learned that if you have a normal conversation with your 10-week old at the grocery store, people will give you funny looks. I, however, don't care what other people think. I didn't know if we had cucumbers at home, and Owen was the only one there who might be able to tell me, so I asked him. Owen also decided that we needed Klondikes and that corn on the cob would be the perfect side for the chicken we are going to have for dinner tonight. Others may not be able to understand his baby babble, but his mama can. So to all you people at the grocery store yesterday who were looking at me like I was crazy...mind your own business. I'm sure you're just jealous anyway.

Big Boy

Owen is too big for his bassinet! His Crazy Granny picked this crib up for him, and he LOVES all the extra room he has to kick and dance.

So Many Adventures...

We celebrated Independence Day at camp. Owen had the cutest USA tank top to wear, but the weather didn't cooperate. He had to wear long sleeves (and his Nike hats) all weekend to stay warm.

Owen also started taking a bottle. Daddy fed him the first one. It was a little strange at first, but as soon as our Hungry Hungry Hippo realized that there was yummy milk in that bottle, he was all over it. Now he gets one bottle a day while his Mama is away at work. We've been away from each other for two mornings now. Both days have gone smoothly, but it's SO sad. :(
Our bright son has a few more "firsts" to share. Now he can put his hands together like he's praying. We're so excited that he finally has some control over his hands. He even holds his pacifier in now. That means we have to get up less often to shove that thing back in his mouth when he fusses for it. When it does fall out, he turns his head and sometimes rolls to his side to try to get it for himself. What a smart baby!

How many chins does this baby need?

Owen is down to only five feedings each day. Do you think that's normal? It's working for me. We've cut out his 9:30PM feeding because now he goes to bed around 8PM. It's great because then Joel and I have a little bit of time to be "Joel and Sarah" and not "Daddy and Mommy."
We tried to stretch Mr. Handsome out on the changing table to measure him, but he wasn't beimg cooperative. We think he's about 23.5 inches now; he was 22 inches at birth. His foot is the same length as the palm of my hand. He's growing so fast!
