What a week!

Our Mr. Handsome has had an exciting week. On Wednesday, Owen and I spent about an hour at Geneva Lakefront Childcare Center, where Owen will be spending his Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays during the school year. We met his teachers and the other children and played in the baby room for awhile. The ratio is 4:1 and Owen will get to keep the same schedule we have at home. (Okay, so he really doen't have a nap schedule, but he sure does have an eating schedule. Nobody messes with Owen when it's feeding time.)

Friday morning Owen made an emergency trip to the pediatrician's office. Dr. Berg, Owen's primary pediatrician, was unavailable so we saw Dr. Eddington. Owen had a strange, painful blistery-looking abrasion on his boy parts. Dr. Eddington checked it out and said that it's not unusual for a boy's body to try to protect itself after a circumcision. That's what was happening - the skin was trying to grow over the circumcision. Dr. Eddington showed me how to clean it and apply vaseline to it until it has time to heal.
Saturday was another exciting day for our Little Man. He rolled over all by himself! He's been doing a good job of getting up on his side, but he never got all the way over from his back to his tummy before Saturday. Once he was over he really didn't know what to do. He was probably a little freaked out because I was cheering and yelling for Joel. We're so proud of Owen.

Owen has discovered his feet and reaches for them all the time. He can't quite get his toes in his mouth yet, but I'm sure that's coming soon. The boy puts everything in his mouth. He tried to eat my elbow this morning while I was dressing him. This afternoon I saw him put his had on his forehead and try to lick his arm. When we're having tummy time, he's more interested in licking the blanket that he's on than he is in playing. What's wrong with him?

  1. Hooray for rolling over...now the "fun" begins, get ready momma! As for day care, maybe they'll be able to get him on a good sleep routine, you never know!! Good luck going back to work!

  3. I love reading about all the things my grandson is doing. He is changing so fast. Can't wait to see him. And by the way...there isn't anything wrong with him.
